Visual Connections (VC) is partnering with PRI to deliver expert retrospective clinical reviews for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). As a Licensed Social Worker (Non‑Mental Health), you will evaluate charts and case packets and produce structured reviews that assess whether the standard of care was met, respond to specific clinical questions, and provide clear, evidence‑based rationales. This role has no direct patient care. Work is remote and compensated at a flat rate per completed review.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete VA quality reviews using PRI/VC templates: Peer Review for Quality Management (audit), Facility‑Requested Reviews, Routine Management Reviews, and Medical Advisory Opinions.

  • Evaluate core aspects of care such as ordering of diagnostics, management of abnormal results, timeliness and appropriateness of diagnosis and treatment, performance of procedures, recognition/management of clinical deterioration, health‑record documentation, and supervision of trainees when applicable.

  • Apply current Licensed Social Worker (Non‑Mental Health) standards of care (e.g., guidelines, best practices) relevant to cases such as discharge planning, case coordination, social determinants of health, complex placement, caregiver education and community resources.

  • Prepare a concise chronology and narrative analysis, respond directly to case‑specific questions, and cite authoritative references when appropriate.

  • Maintain strict confidentiality of VA quality‑assurance records and data; follow all PRI/VC security and privacy requirements.

  • Complete attestation of qualifications and absence of conflict of interest prior to assignment; submit reviews within agreed timelines.

Qualifications

  • Master’s in Social Work (MSW) from a CSWE‑accredited program.

  • Current state licensure at the independent level (e.g., LCSW) with hospital or health‑system experience.

  • 3+ years experience in discharge planning, case coordination, and community resource navigation; strong documentation and interdisciplinary communication skills.

  • Demonstrated excellence in clinical writing and critical appraisal of medical records.

  • Proficiency with electronic health records (EHRs)/PDF case packets and secure file portals.

  • Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and provide objective, defensible opinions.

Compensation (Flat Rate per Review)

Compensation is based on the VA Tier assigned to this specialty and is paid per completed review (hours may vary by case).

Note: Tier assignment is determined by the VA. All rates are per review completed.

Schedule & Location

  • Remote, work‑from‑anywhere in the U.S.

  • Flexible, per‑case workload; timelines vary by assignment.

  • No travel required.

How To Apply

  • Using the ‘Email Resume’ button above submit your CV/resume and a brief statement of relevant review/QA experience.

  • Provide copies of active license(s) and board/credential certificates.

  • Be prepared to complete a conflict‑of‑interest attestation and onboarding documents.

Compliance & Confidentiality

  • All reviews and related materials are confidential quality‑assurance records under applicable law and must not be disclosed or redistributed.

  • Examples of review templates may be demonstrated during interviewing/onboarding but are not shared outside the review process.
