Visual Connections, LLC is seeking a qualified Data Scientist to join our team in McLean, VA.  The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in Python development, SQL data validation, analytics solutions, and managing CI/CD pipelines and repositories. Applicants must possess the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as meet specified education and experience requirements, to satisfactorily perform all essential functions and responsibilities. Additional tasks may be assigned as needed to support business objectives. 

Essential Job Function

  • Use Python and Flask to design, deploy, and maintain analytics reports.

  • Create alerting systems in Python to monitor important data events.

  • Build Python workflows for ingesting and validating data.

  • Handle data correction tickets and resolve them promptly.

  • Check regulatory data within internal databases and reconcile information between different applications.

  • Safeguard data integrity, consistency, and accuracy throughout all systems.

  • Keep Azure DevOps repositories updated.

  • Monitor and manage work items through ticketing systems to ensure projects are delivered on schedule

Qualifications

  • An Associates Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a closely related discipline is required.

  • Candidates should possess minimum of 2 years of professional experience with Python, including web application development using Flask, as well as expertise in data analytics, data engineering, or comparable technical roles.

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust with the Federal government is mandatory.

  • Employer-based sponsorship is not available for this role. Legal permanent residents must have maintained residency status in the United States for a minimum of the past three years.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated advanced proficiency in Python libraries (Pandas and SqlAlchemy).

  • Strong foundation in data manipulation, validation, and ETL processes.

  • Comprehensive experience working with SQL and data warehouse environments.

  • Skilled in developing complex SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.

  • Well-versed in data quality assurance and reconciliation methodologies.

  • Practical hands-on experience utilizing Azure DevOps, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Proven ability to manage large datasets and implement workflow automation solutions.

  • Knowledgeable in regulatory data validation procedures.

  • Exceptional oral and written communication capabilities.

  • Familiarity with Azure cloud-based data architectures.

  • Proficient in .NET technologies, specifically C#, for integration and application development.

  • Experienced using statistical analysis tools (R) and data wrangling tools (NumPy).
